You deposit into the account as often as you like.  Of course, if you are being consistent, it will build up much faster.  Try using payroll deduction.  If it comes out automatically each pay period, you might not miss the difference.  If payroll deduction is not for you, then you could also deposit through the mail, or by stopping in to the credit union.
